- The Editors Guild of India condemned the arrest of fact-checker and Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair and demanded his immediate release. Calling it 'extremely disturbing', Editors Guild in a statement pointed out the commitments made by PM Narendra Modi in the G7 meeting in Germany to ensure a resilient democracy by protecting online and offline content. It added that Zubair's release would support India's position. Zubair was arrested for a 2018 tweet and is currently in 1-day custody of Delhi police. Their FIR read that Zubair's tweet was highly provocative and more than sufficient to incite feelings of hatred among people. Watch this video for more details.
