Film aficionados in Delhi and NCR will be able to watch the best of pan Indian cinema at the Habitat Film Festival which begins on Saturday. Hosted by the Habitat Film Club, the 11th edition of the festival will showcase some of the brilliant films of 2015-2016 depicting themes as diverse as love, courage displacement, migration, intolerance, caste and corruption, among many others.
The highlight of the five-day-long festival is a segment of award winning movies and short films like Sanskrit movie Priyamanasam, Malayalam movie Ennu Ninte Moideen, Bengali movie Cinemawala, Tamil move Visaranai and Oriya film Pahada Ra Luha, among others.
“This year’s movies will entertain, enchant, engage, delight and disturb in varying measure in a cinematic voyage that travels across the vast terrain of India and gives Provides a window into the soul of the country. Negotiating their way through all this, are the wonderful narratives of love, courage, aspiration and resilience of the human spirit”, said IHT director of programmes Vidyun Singh.

Apart from this, a special northeast package bringing gems in Assamese, Bodo, Khasi, Manipuri and Mizo such as Onaatah, Kothanodi, Antareen, Nodi Mathu Boi, Eibusu Yaohanbiyu and Kima’s Lode - Beyond The Class will be screened in the festival.
The festival will also pay tribute to yesteryear heroine Helen in the retrospective section. Fans will get a chance to interact with the actor on May 11, at Stein Auditorium at 6.30 pm, followed by the screening of a documentary film on Helen.
The festival will close with the much talked about and well-received Angry Indian Goddesses.
Habitat Film Festival will run May 7-11 at India Habitat Centre.
