Canada expresses condolences over Delhi fire

Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs expresses condolences to India over the New Delhi fire tragedy, stands in solidarity with affected families.

The Canadian government has communicated its condolences to India over the tragic fire in New Delhi on Wednesday that claimed several lives.

In a post on X, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand said, “Deeply saddened by the tragic fire that claimed at least 21 lives and injured many others in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi.”

“Canada stands with India during this devastating time, and I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected,” she added.

She also said she has been in touch with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar “to convey Canada’s solidarity.” The fire had erupted in a hotel in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar in South Delhi.
