Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko on Monday tweeted a video to show the world how the Russian invasion had ravaged the Ukrainian capital. While inspecting the damage in the city, Klitschko tweeted a 52 second video that has gone viral, garnering more than 3.54 lakh views on the internet.
“That's what Russia's war on civilians looks like,” the mayor said while showing the debris left after Moscow's rocket strikes on Kyiv.
"Many cities in Ukraine were destroyed, lives were taken. The images are proof of Russia's war against Ukraine," Klitschko added.
Ferocious fighting between the two forces continued for the 19th straight day. This comes amid Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy's scheduled virtual address to the US Congress later in the day. The US Congress recently approved $13.6 billion in emergency military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
Russian forces continue their onslaught to capture the Ukrainian capital, with the civilians having no option but to take refuge in bomb shelters and praying for the bilateral talks to produce any result. The fourth round of talks ended without a breakthrough, with the Ukrainian negotiators claiming that the dialogue will resume on Tuesday.
Air raids continue to go off across the cities in the war-hit country, with the outskirts of Kyiv witnessing ferocious fighting.
Yavoriv, Odessa, Kherson, Mariupol are the cities worst hit by the Russian missile strikes that continue to target civilian areas. The situation is worse in Mariupol where an estimated 2,500 people have been killed since Vladimir Putin's forces launched an all out invasion on Ukraine in the morning of February 24, calling it a military operation to ‘demilitarise and denazify Ukraine'. A convoy of 160 civilian cars left the warzone along the humanitarian route.
Meanwhile, Russia claimed that 23 people were killed after a Ukrainian missile strike on separatist-controlled Donetsk in the eastern region of Ukraine. Moscow has called the attack a ‘war crime.’
