Militants planted the remote controlled bomb on a roadside to target Yousuf Bugti, the son of parliamentarian Ahmadan Bugti, though he escaped unhurt, police said.

Two persons were killed instantly while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The five injured were rushed to a hospital in nearby Sui town where doctors said the condition of two persons was serious.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Such strikes are usually blamed on Baloch nationalist groups that are waging a campaign for a greater say in the exploitation of the province's abundant natural resources, including gas reserves and minerals.
