Virat Kohli held firm with an unbeaten 85* as India ended day 2 on 183/5, still trailing South Africa by 152 runs. The Indian captain’s positive knock was in stark contrast to the other batsmen who fell cheaply. South Africa got the wickets of Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma while KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara departed in quick succession. Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers with 4/113 as South Africa were bowled out for 335. Faf du Plessis led from the front with a solid fifty and shared vital partnerships with the tail. After opting to bat, Aiden Markram and Hashim Amla hit fifties to put South Africa on course for a big score before things fell apart with a couple of run outs in the final session of the day. Ashwin, with three-wicket, was the standout bowler for India. The hosts lead the three-match series 1-0.
