The advertisements promising $2,000 monthly salaries, free housing, medical benefits, flights, and fast-track contracts were dismissed as “fake” by the Russian Embassy in Tehran. But experts warn that Moscow has a long history of recruiting foreign fighters from poor and conflict-hit countries to sustain its troop levels. The alleged recruitment flyers listed roles such as drone operators, drivers, and frontline assault troops, while investigations found the WhatsApp number on the advertisement briefly active. Radio Farda’s probe revealed inconsistent responses, adding to the mystery around the campaign’s origins.
