Check out this new art show in town featuring artworks made out of burnt wood.

Have you ever seen an artwork made up of burnt wood? If not, then you shouldn’t miss this unique form of art. After a successful showcasing of his artworks in Gdansk Museum in Poland in February this year, curator and artist Naresh Kapuria will be displaying his work made from burnt wood in the Capital starting tomorrow.

Aptly titled, Return from the Gdansk Museum, the exhibition has on display 23 works by the artist. “All the works are a collection of gold and silver leaf made out of burnt wood. The inspiration behind this work was a bird made out of burnt wood that I saw in Russia six years back. The artwork completely fascinated me,” says Kapuria.

Talking about his experience of innovating materials like gold and silver foils, Kapuria says, “The process is very complicated and long, as each piece took around two months to complete. First, you take the wood, carve it, then burn and dip it in a solution of varnish for a day. The process is repeated, and then silver or gold foil is applied as required.”

To be held at Alliance Francaise, the show will run till July 23.
