Around 500 artists turned the walls of Select CITYWALK, one of the largest malls in the Capital, into an art canvas, depicting lifestyle, shopping and entertainment. The event, called The Art in the City, was an initiative by the mall that aims to bring professional and amateur artists on one platform to create a change with creative expressions for a better tomorrow.
Speaking about the initiative, Arjun Sharma, director, Select CITYWALK says, "We have always believed in encouraging and promoting art on a larger scale and wanted to show the art in the public domain. Thus, we gave 10X10ft spaces to 400 kids and divided everybody in different groups."
Talking about the theme, Our Girls, Our Pride, he says, "About a hundred artists painted the walls with images and drawings depicting girls. Through this theme we have tried to convey the message that all atrocities towards the girl child must stop."
The basement parking walls also feature scenes and vignettes from many popular and acclaimed movies. "We are always looking for ways to make the visitors have a wholesome and an exciting experience. People relate to Bollywood movies. From Guru Dutt to Sanjay Leela Bhansali movies of every genre and from every decade is represented on the walls," Sharma says.
You can also experience the Sprite Art event where talented artists from Delhi will pay a homage to the city by creating a life size installation with graffiti.
