Continuing his patriotic fervour post Airlift and Rustom, Akshay Kumar recently announced his upcoming venture Gold, that depicts the story of India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation.
Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, Gold will be Reema Kagti’s third directorial venture, after Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Talaash, which will hit the screens on the 2018 Independence Day.
Going by the history, the Indian hockey team, captained by Kishan Lal, won its first gold at the 1948 London Olympics as an independent country, defeating Great Britain in the final.

He is also gearing up for the release of his Tamil debut 2.0, alongside Thalaiva Rajnikanth, where he will be seen portraying a baddie.
