Alok Nath remembers Reema Lagoo: Can’t come to terms with her death; she left us too soon

Veteran actor Alok Nath was in Srinagar when he got the news of Reema Lagoo’s death, says he was shattered and switched off his phone

Veteran actor Reema Lagoo’s death has not only shocked her fans and industry colleagues, but also left a void in their hearts, as they will miss watching Bollywood’s favourite mom on-screen. In her career spanning almost four decades, Reema worked with a lot of senior actors and among the most popular names, Alok Nath tops the list. The two have shared screen space in many films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun... !! (1994), Hum Sath Sath Hain (1999), Maine Pyar Kya (1989) among others.

However, soon after news of Reema’s death, Nath strangely went out of reach and his phone remained switched off the whole day. Finally, a day after we contacted him again, Nath admits that he was not in the right frame of mind to talk and wanted to stay detached for some time.

“Firstly, I was at a place where there is no network, so I couldn’t say my obituaries. [Also], it was a heartbreaking moment but one has to face the reality. Just that now we have to live with it,” says Nath, who is currently in Srinagar and will return to Mumbai on May 20.

When asked to recall some cherished moments with his favourite co-actor, an emotional Nath says, “It’s so strange, you see. Earlier, we live with the person and now, one has to live with the lovely memories and whatever one learns from and shares with that person. So life goes on and we have to live with it. It doesn’t stop for anyone.”

Expressing his deepest gratitude, Nath says that he would dearly remember Reema. “I don’t know why we have to go through this all the time. Everybody who comes in this world has to leave. But I feel she left us a little too soon.”
