Actor Ankita Lokhande had a great stint on the small screen, where she became a household name with her debut show — Pavitra Rishta. Now, all set for her Bollywood debut with the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Ankita says it’s all a matter of “time and opportunity” that an actor decides to graduate from TV to films.
On why there’s a sudden influx of so many TV actors into films, Ankita says, “Actors are actors, be it in TV or films. We work equally hard in both sectors. It is a matter of time and opportunity for me that I got to work in TV first and then in a film. I was fortunate to be part of a super hit TV serial at one time and, now, I’m blessed to be starting my film career with Manikarnika alongside amazing talents.”

She adds that working in TV made her “more capable because the timelines made us push the limits.”
Asked if lack of good content on TV was at any point a reason for her to switch to films, Ankita says she’d rather see it as a desire to explore more.

{{/usCountry}}“Films are a larger medium and that is one of the reasons to switch. If we talk about content, then I think not only TV, but web is also coming up with great content. So, for actors, I believe there should not be any boundaries,” says the actor, who will portray the character of Jhalkaribai in the film.
Now that Ankita has experience both the worlds, she shares her views on how different the two mediums are. “Well, it is altogether a different experience to be working in film. In TV, due to time limits, I had a lot of performance pressure to give the best shot in a small amount of time, whereas in films, I took a lot of training to prepare for a character prior to the shoot. In both the scenarios, there is no compromise when it comes to working; only the way of working is different. I enjoyed then (working in TV) and I am in love with the process now (in films),” she says, adding that going forward, “as long as I am working, I will always be open to new experience and opportunities.”
