Article 15 box office collection day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana film holds steady, makes Rs 7.25 crore, Kabir Singh stays rock solid

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Article 15 showed major growth on Saturday picking up Rs 7.25 crores. It’s opening collections stood at Rs 5.02 crore. Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh, meanwhile, stays strong at the box office.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s Article 15 showed a jump on Saturday and is trending in urban areas, says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Tweeting the Saturday figures, he said that the film had made Rs 7.25 crores on day 2, taking its total to Rs 12.27 crores.

He wrote: “#Article15 jumps on Day 2... Trending very well at urban centres specifically... Should maintain the strong momentum on Day 3, although #INDvENG [#CWC19] cricket match might act as a speed breaker... Fri 5.02 cr, Sat 7.25 cr. Total: ₹ 12.27 cr. India biz.” He further added that despite cricket matches, the film should maintain a strong momentum on day 3.

Article 15, based on the infamous Badaun rape case of 2014, is an investigation drama with Ayushmann playing a cop. Kabir Singh, a Hindi remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, is the story of brilliant resident doctor with anger management issues, who goes on self destructive mode after his girlfriend married another person.

Article 15, which is being received very well in urban centres, ran into trouble in Kanpur on Friday when some groups entered cinema halls in the city and the shows in some theatres had to be stopped. The film has been hailed for its hard-hitting content and taking on the caste issue in India.
