Despite the controversy that threatened to stop the release of his film, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has made Rs 35 crore over the weekend. Ajay Devgn’s second directorial venture Shivaay, on the other hand lagged behind with Rs 28.56 crore weekend collection.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday that the film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, made Rs 13.3 crore on Friday, another Rs 13.3 crore on Saturday, but saw a dip in its Sunday (Diwali) collection, making only Rs 9.2 crore. Despite the dip, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s weekend collection is highest ever for any Ranbir or Karan movie.
Shivaay made a decent opening collecting Rs 10.24 crore on Friday but remained behind KJo’s film. On Saturday and Sunday, Shivaay earned Rs 10.06 crore and Rs 8.26 crore respectively.
