After their first and India’s largest crowd-funded film, I Am, bagged two National Awards including Best Hindi Film, producers Onir and Sanjay Suri announced a poster contest on Facebook for their next production, Chauranga. The idea was to increase the use of crowd-sourcing and social media, which they believe will be instrumental to the growth of independent filmmakers.

“In the past four months, we’ve received over 100 entries from India and countries like Spain, UK and Australia,” says Onir, adding that after short-listing five, they’ve picked their winner, Kishan Harchandani, a graphic designer from Jaipur who will be mentored by the team in creating the final art-work.

“We have another contest for the score, where anyone can upload a music theme sample,” says Onir. “We’ve already got 36 entries and will announce the winner next month.”
