Don’t pay heed to what we say: Nana slams Bollywood over Pak artistes’ ban

Veteran actor Nana Patekar has reacted strongly to the ongoing debate over whether Pakistani artists should be allowed to work in India, in wake of the Uri militant attack that killed 18 soldiers on September 18.

The debate over whether Pakistani artistes should be allowed to work in India following the t error attacks in Uri that killed 19 soldiers last month became more intense with veteran actor Nana Patekar reacting strongly.

“Pakistan, artistes come later. My nation comes first. I don’t know anyone except my country and don’t want to know anything else. Artistes are small insects in front of the nation, we are worth nothing compared to the country,” the actor told a news channel.

“I don’t want to know what Bollywood says. I was in the army for two years. Our jawans are the real heroes. We are ordinary, useless people. Do not pay attention to what we say. Do you understand whom am I talking about? Humlog jo patar patar karte hain, unpe dhyan mat do. Unki aukat nahi utni,” he said.

While Bollywood celebs including filmmakers Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt and actor Salman Khan have maintained that art and politics should not be mixed, actors Kangana Ranaut and Ranbir Kapoor have given rather neutral reactions to the entire debate.
