So does this song mark his comeback?
“Yes, it is quite a comeback for me, although I did not really go anywhere. I have always been a part of the industry,” says Altaf, adding, “It is Amit who thought that I will be great for ‘Jholuram’ and he took me on to sing for Emraan Hashmi. So yes, I am excited as it’s a song for a film that has superstars like Emraan and Vidya (Balan).”

Not only is Altaf singing in the film, he is also featured in the song and will be seen doing a jugalbandi with Emraan. “It was great to shoot the music video with Emraan. As a singer, you are also responsible for the song. This is such a quirky number that everyone will sit up and notice it. In fact, the whole plot of the film is hilarious,” says Altaf.

Ghanchakkar is a comedy of errors and stars Emraan and Vidya in the lead roles. It is set to hit theatres on June 28.
