A second trailer for Lipstick Under My Burkha was revealed on Tuesday, less than a month before its July 21 release.
The new trailer for the film, starring Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkana Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur, delves deeper into the secret lives of four women being told to suppress their sexuality.
The women still find ways to rebel against the pressure.
The film ran into a massive roadblock a few months ago with the Central Board of Film Certification, which refused to certify the film due to its ‘lady oriented’ content, ‘abusive words’ and ‘audio pornography”.
Later, the film’s director, Alankrita Shrivastava, moved The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) against the decision. Trashing the censor board’s arguments, the FCAT ordered that the film be granted an ‘A’ certificate with “voluntary and some additional cuts and deletions”. It also asked the filmmakers to reduce the duration of sex scenes.
