Indo-US talks on clean energy

Ahead of President Barack Obama’s India visit likely in August this year, the US energy officials led by its Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman met with Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and held talks for co-operation on the cleaner sources of energy, including nuclear and low carbon and energy efficient technologies to produce power.

Ahead of President Barack Obama’s India visit likely in August this year, the US energy officials led by its Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman met with Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and held talks for co-operation on the cleaner sources of energy, including nuclear and low carbon and energy efficient technologies to produce power.

“We had a very good conversation with India. We discussed co-operation on developing shale gas as also gas hydrates,” said Poneman.

“Partnership with US will help us to develop the new source of energy,” Sunil Jain, joint secretary in the petroleum ministry said after the meeting.
