Bajaj Auto is set to introduce a new electric scooter under the Chetak name on January 14, 2026. Unlike the current Chetak models on sale, this upcoming version is expected to be positioned as a more affordable option, aimed at buyers who want to step into electric mobility without stretching their budget too far.

This new scooter will not replace the existing Chetak range. Instead, it is likely to sit below it in the lineup. Test sightings over the past few months suggest that the scooter is smaller in size and designed with simplicity in mind. To help keep costs under control, Bajaj may move away from the all-metal body that defines the current Chetak and opt for lighter materials such as plastic and fibre.

The overall design still appears familiar, retaining the clean and rounded look associated with the Chetak name. However, the proportions hint at a more city-focused approach, making it better suited for daily commutes and short trips. This also points toward easier handling, especially for riders navigating tight urban traffic. As observed in the spy photographs, the updated Chetak maintains its recognizable retro aesthetic but appears somewhat more compact overall. It is equipped with a new seat, updated side panels, and a reimagined rear grab handle. The front indicators are now positioned on the handlebar cowl, whereas the rear showcases a newly integrated taillight.

More details around specifications such as battery capacity, riding range, and features are expected to be revealed at the launch event. With the launch date now confirmed, Bajaj seems ready to expand its electric portfolio and reach a wider audience that has been waiting for a more accessible Chetak.
