Tata Motors is working on a mid-life update for the Tata Punch, and multiple test mules have been spotted on Indian roads over the past few months. Although the vehicles are heavily camouflaged, the changes underneath are becoming clearer.

Tata Motors has not officially confirmed a launch date yet. However, based on the testing activity and the stage of development, the Punch facelift is expected to be launched within the current financial year. This points to a possible debut sometime in 2025.

What’s changing on the outside?

Spy shots also show vertically stacked headlights, similar in layout to the electric version. The front bumper will be redesigned to match the updated face.

Along the sides, the overall silhouette will remain unchanged. However, Tata is likely to introduce a new set of alloy wheels and revised wheel covers. At the rear, the taillights are expected to be subtly updated, along with minor changes to the rear bumper.

What updates can you expect inside?

Inside the cabin, the Punch facelift is expected to align closely with the Punch EV’s interior theme. It will likely get the new two-spoke steering wheel seen on Tata’s newer models.

In higher variants, the existing instrument cluster is expected to be replaced by a 10.25-inch fully digital display. The current 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is also likely to make way for a larger 10.25-inch unit on top trims. The air-conditioning control module is expected to be updated as well.

Notably, test mules have been seen with a radar sensor integrated into the front bumper. This suggests that Tata Motors could introduce ADAS features on the Punch facelift. A 360-degree camera is also expected to be added to the feature list.

Will anything change under the bonnet?

Despite the updates, the mechanicals will remain unchanged. The Punch facelift will continue with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86 hp and 113 Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. A CNG variant will also continue to be offered.
