The commission had on April 2, 2013,ordered the PGIMER and CTU to pay Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the parents of Anupama, who had developed gangrene and had later died as she had not been provided timely treatment after her accident with a CTU bus on July 17, 2012.

However, as the PGIMER failed to comply with the orders, parents of the victim approached the consumer commission, seeking execution of the orders.
Now, the consumer commission has directed the officials of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) to explain why its orders have not been complied with.

“The application was filed under section 27 of the Consumer Protection Act, which provided for punishment upto three years to persons who were guilty of dis-obedience of court orders. The notices have been issued for June 27, 2013,” informed Pankaj Chandgothia, counsel for Anupama's parents.

It may be recalled that Chandgothia has also filed an appeal on behalf of Anupama' parents for enhancement of compensation which has also been admitted by the national commission and notice issued to PGIMER on May 3, 2013.
