To give the tricity residents an opportunity to come across something innovative and thrilling, the city’s first adventure carnival, AdventureGarh, at the exhibition ground, Sector 34, Chandigarh, intends to make people experience the fun of various adventure sports including bungee jumping, commando slithering, cage rides, hot air balloon, jeep towed Para sailing, ATVs with dirt track, paintball battle game, obstacle course, wooden rappelling wall, zorbing, running bungee, inflatable rock wall and rocket boom.
Organised by the Chandigarh tourism department, the ongoing adventure fête garnered mixed response from residents, especially during the day, due to the rising temperatures and the not-so-impressive ambience.
Range of activities
Apart from the varied range of adventure activities, what attracted people the most was bungee jumping from a height of 150 feet, hot air balloon ride, zorbing, inflatable rock wall and obstacle course. Moreover, various cultural and musical performances are conducted everyday to entertain people. In addition to a food counter, there are stalls for shopping for the ladies.
Festival receives mixed response
Post experiencing the bungee jumping ride, Tarun Midha, a businessman residing in Sector 15, Panchkula, said, “I did bungee jumping for the second time. The last time I gave it a try was about 11 years ago. The view from the top was scary, but once you jump, it seems quite normal.” Besides, one could easily spot the crowd taking seflies near the hot air balloon. “I have come especially with my family to watch the hot air balloon and experience a ride. Then I will convince my friends to also try it,” said Jaininder Malhotra, a resident of Sector 20, Chandigarh.
Neha, an MCom (first year) student from DAV College, Sector 10, accompanied by her friend Jasmeet, said, “The hot air balloon looks so attractive. We plan to come tomorrow along with our friends.” All the activities are performed under the observation of trainers.

{{/usCountry}}The bike racing activity attracted the kids. Shivam Singla, an 11-year-old student, said, “I really enjoyed watching bike racing. But it’s sad I couldn’t take part in it as I’m too small for it.”
The festival managed to attract more visitors in the evening. Preet Mohinder, a businessman from Sector 48, Chandigarh, believed that the cost of the activities is high. “Middle class people can’t afford to enjoy such activities as it’s little expensive. Besides, there are not many activities for the kids as compared to what they have said. Still, I think such carnivals should be organised more often.” If weekends have nothing much to offer, then a visit to the carnival can be considered. The festival is on till April 26.
