CHB staff submit memo to Patil over pension issue

Striking employees of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) marched to Punjab Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to UT administrator Shivraj Patil demanding implementation of the pension scheme on Friday.Even after 54 days of chain hunger strike, the administration and the management of CHB failed to resolve the issue.

Striking employees of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) marched to Punjab Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to UT administrator Shivraj Patil demanding implementation of the pension scheme on Friday.

Even after 54 days of chain hunger strike, the administration and the management of CHB failed to resolve the issue.

The CHB employees are protesting under the banner of Chandigarh Housing Board Employees Co-ordination Committee (CHBECC) and are demanding implementation of pension scheme to the CHB employees who joined prior to January 1, 2004. The case of pension is pending with the UT administration since 2009 and about 402 employees are affected with the delay in implementation.

Leaders of Federation of UT Employees and Workers; UT Subordinate Services Federation, Chandigarh Subordinate Services Federation, Employees Forum, Chandigarh; Joint Action Committee of Chandigarh and MC Employees and Workers; CTU workers union; CITCO employees and workers union; Punjab and UT Employees' Joint Action Committee, Chandigarh; Punjab State Board and Corporation Mahasangh; joint action committee of residents' welfare association, Sector 56, joined the protest march extending support to the employees of CHB.
