On December 4, 2014, the girl, 8, was playing outside her house in Barwala block when the accused, Amandeep alias Golu, a tractor driver, took her to a secluded place on the pretext of getting her chips, and committed the crime.

Later when the girl narrated the incident to her parents, they rushed her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed the rape. The girl's father is a daily wage labourer.

On December 11, 2014, her parents got a case registered under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The chargesheet was filed on February 19 this year.
