A local court on Friday sent protection money racket main accused Rattan Lubana, 22, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) chairman at DAV College, Sector 10, to judicial custody, a day after he was arrested for threatening two victims in the case.
Lubana was re-arrested by the UT police on Thursday barely a month after he was released on bail in the protection money racket, in which students of at least four elite schools of the city were victimised.
Lubana, the main accused in the protection money racket, allegedly threatened two victims on the court premises when they had come for the hearing of the case.
Meanwhile, the police have also moved an application seeking production warrants of co-accused Amitoz Singh, 26, whose late father was a sub-inspector in the Punjab Police. The court has issued notice for June 22 to the authorities of Burail jail, where Amitoz is presently lodged along with third accused Rajveer Singh, 24, who is the son of a UT police constable. The trio was arrested in January on the complaint of St John's School principal Kavita Das.
It may be mentioned that victim students had alleged that Lubana and Amitoz had threatened them with dire consequences when they arrived in court for a hearing on April 20. Following the students' allegations, additional chief judicial magistrate KK Jain had written to the UT police to verify the accusations.

{{/usCountry}}The police said the cops who were accompanying the accused stated they saw the duo showing "aggressive behavior"towards the victims. After taking legal opinion and recording the statement of others present in the court, the police registered a fresh case under Sections 195-A (threatening the victim in the court) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at the Sector-36 police station.
