Road rage: Told not to drive on wrong side, Ludhiana man opens fire in air

The 28-year-old complainant, his brother were returning from the ICU after visiting their Sister-in-law when they confronted the accused

Despite the night curfew imposed in the state, a resident of Mahavir Enclave not only ventured out, but also opened fire in the air after a 28-year-old man objected to him driving on the wrong side of the road on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Akshit Malhotra. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place.

The FIR has been lodged following the statement of Umesh Kumar of Aggar Nagar.

Kumar said that him and his brother Dhruv Jindal were returning from the hospital where his sister-in-law is admitted. When they were near the ICICI bank on Ferozepur Road, they saw that the accused was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Kumar said that he told Malhotra to correct himself it could endanger the lives of others also. The accused, who was under influence of liquor, started abusing him and opened fire in the air with his pistol.

Kumar added that he left the spot and went home. The next morning, he lodged an FIR.
