Three people lost their lives in two separate road mishaps on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

In the first incident, two people died after an SUV hit a Maruti Suzuki Alto at Sua Road, behind Keys Hotel on Friday night. Assistant sub-inspector Harmesh Kumar said one of the victims Ramesh Kumar, 36, was a tea -stall owner. Kumar was attending to a customer in the Alto.

Just as he was serving tea, a speeding Toyota Innova rammed into the vehicle dragging the car and Ramesh to at least 50 metres. Kumar died on the spot while the occupant of the Alto was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed. He is yet to be identified.

Kumar’s relatives said the SUV driver was in an inebriated state. The driver was able to escape and an investigation is on to trace the accused.

50-year-old man crushed under tractor-trolley

In another accident, a 50-year-old man was crushed under his own tractor trolley on Pakhowal Road. The victim, Ram Sharan, 50, worked as a driver for an LPG cylinder supplying agency in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Colony at Pakhowal Road.
