Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) CK Baba said on Sunday night the woman—working in a private firm—was sitting in a park along with her male friend in National Games Village (NGV) in Koramangala around 10 pm. During this time, one of the accused staying nearby found the couple smoking in the park. He questioned them and cornered them, asking what they were up to. The couple got into an argument with the accused.

“According to the woman’s complaint, she was with a man and smoking a cigarette. One of the accused objected to it. There was an argument and her friend was threatened and sent away from there. During this time, the accused called the other three. They came in a car and dragged her into it,” said the DCP.

The police officer identified the arrested accused as Vijay, Sridhar, Kiran and Satish, all aged between 23 and 24 years. Though the woman did not know them, the investigation suggested that their faces were familiar to her as all of them lived in the same locality.

A case has been registered under sections 376 D (gangrape), 376 (rape), 373 (kidnap), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.

DCP Baba said” "We formed two special teams soon after the victim filed a complaint and nabbed all the four accused within nine hours. The test identification period of the accused person and other procedures are pending, so we cannot reveal more details about the accused persons."

Meanwhile, the woman is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.
