Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who is campaigning in Karnataka promised that each village in the Kalyana Karnataka region will be given Rs. one crore each as a fund, if the party comes to power. He also said that the BJP will only get 40 seats as ‘40’ (referring to 40% commission jibe) is the ruling party’s favorite number.

Speaking at Karnataka’s Jevargi, Rahul Gandhi said, “If the Congress comes to power, each village will be allotted with Rs. one crore rupee fund. A total of Rs. 5K crores will be given to the villages of Kalyana Karnataka region.” Rahul Gandhi also slammed the BJP further and said that it is only going to get 40 seats. “Since 40 is the favorite number of the BJP, they will only get 40 seats in the assembly elections. The Congress will clearly get 150 seats and we are going to form the government in Karnataka,” Rahul Gandhi said.
On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi also announced the fifth poll promise of Congress. He said, “If the Congress is voted to power, the bus ride for women will be free in the state. We will implement it as soon as we come to power,” he added.
He also reiterated the four key "guarantees" of the Congress: ₹2,000 to woman head of family, 200 units of free power to every household, ₹3,000 to unemployed graduates and ₹1,500 to unemployed diploma holders (both in the age group of 18 to 25 years) for two years, and 10 kg rice to every member of a BPL family a month.
