Punjab: Elderly couple dies of drowning as car falls into canal in Doraha

An elderly couple drowned after their car fell into a canal near Gurthali Bridge in Doraha. Police recovered the bodies and the car with the help of divers.

An elderly couple died of drowning after their car fell into the canal near Gurthali Bridge in Doraha on Thursday afternoon.

Police recovered the bodies and the car from the canal with the help of divers.

Doraha station house officer Vijay Kumar said that local residents informed the police after they noticed the Maruti Suzuki Alto car had fallen into canal. “We started the rescue operation immediately and are trying to identify the victims,” he added.
