5 arrested for hoisting saffron flag on mosque in Sonepat
Mosque president Salim had filed a police complaint alleging that 15-20 right-wing activists barged into the mosque when they were taking out a procession on the occasion of Ram Navmi on Thursday evening.
Five persons have been arrested for allegedly hoisting a saffron flag atop a mosque in Sonepat’s Kharkhauda on Thursday evening.
The accused have been identified as Naveen Jasrana, Rohit Sisana, Manjeet Rohna, Inderjit Rohna and Manjeet Kharkhuada. Manjeet is presently a zila parishad member in Sonepat district.
In all, around 15 to 20 persons have been booked in the case.

“The miscreants hoisted a saffron flag on the mosque when the Muslim community people were offering Namaz. This was done to create tension among different communities,” the complainant added.
Kharkhauda SHO Sunil Kumar said peace has been restored in the area and five miscreants have been arrested and a manhunt is on nab the other accused. “We are ascertaining CCTV footage to identify the other miscreants. We will not allow anyone to take law-and-order in their hand,” the SHO added.
