Himachal Pradesh government will implement policy to safeguard the interests of outsourced employees soon, with an aim to provide relief to over 24,000 outsourced employees in the state, said chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday.

The CM, while addressing a public gathering at Nogli in the Rampur assembly constituency of Shimla district, said that the state government was working on a policy to safeguard the interests of outsourced employees, which would be implemented shortly.
The announcement comes as a relief to the outsourced employees serving in government departments and public institutions across the state, with a long-awaited sense of job security may finally be on the horizon.
Sukhu had noted that there has been a long standing demand for a clear policy regarding outsourced employees in the state. He pointed out that the highest number of appointments on an outsourced basis were made during 2016 and 2017.
Currently, a large number of employees are serving under the outsourced system across various departments, including education, Jal Shakti, public works (PWD), the State Electricity Board, and others. “A practical and equitable policy will be formulated to secure the future of these outsourced employees and to prevent their exploitation ,” said Sukhu.
The issue of outsourced employment had been raised in the Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly as well during the monsoon session. Sukhu had then stated in the House that the government will take into account the interests and future of employees already working on an outsourcing basis.
