{{/usCountry}}Several places like Malana in Parvati valley have become infamous for the production and trafficking of high-quality Charas. The valley attracts tourists, including foreign visitors, drawn by its scenic beauty. However, it has also come under scrutiny over the use and smuggling of its locally produced Charas, as well as reports of rave parties and drug-related activities in recent years.
Notably, in June, the Himachal Pradesh high court ordered the transfer of the Kullu deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP) for failing to prevent a large-scale rave party near Kasol.
13 FIRs registered in September and October
Kullu police in its statement said: “Action against illegal cannabis cultivation was not limited to Patlikuhal and Manikaran but continued across various police station jurisdictions in Kullu district. A total of 13 FIRs related to illegal cannabis cultivation, across six police stations, were registered in the district during September and October 2026.”
The action reflects Kullu district police’s continued efforts to combat illegal cannabis cultivation and curb the sources of illicit drug production. Police said the campaign against illegal cannabis cultivation, drug production and trafficking would continue.
