Artificial lake triggers ‘flash flood’ threat in Manikaran

Flash flood threat looms over the Manikaran valley as an artificially created dam formed in Jeera Nullah in Manikaran valley of Kullu district, blocking the natural flow of water, has put the authorities on alert who as a precautionary measure evacuated people living near Jeera Nullah from Tosh village to Bhuntar.

HP: Locals oppose water transfer from Manikaran to Kasol for hot bath facility

New nature park proposed in Kasol faces local opposition over water diversion from Manikaran.

The idea of moving water from Manikaran, a Hindu and Sikh pilgrimage site, to Kasol in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh in order to create a hot bath facility has caused controversy among the locals, who are now against the plan. As a result, a hot spring has been dug in Kasol.(PTI)
