A massive landslide hit the Sanjauli-Dhalli bypass in Shimla on Wednesday afternoon, with a large section of the hillside suddenly collapsing onto the road. Two vehicles were passing by, but both managed to escape the falling debris.
Several vehicles were parked on the other side of the road. The incident was captured on camera, and the video has gone viral on social media. It shows a large chunk of the mountain suddenly collapsing towards the road, with three or four people seen running to safety.
The landslide left a large amount of debris on the road and reportedly caused minor damage to two nearby vehicles. The detachable cargo body of a parked pickup truck was struck by the debris and damaged.
It was raining in Shimla when the landslide occurred. The sudden collapse amid rain triggered panic at the spot.
