High drama was witnessed outside the ancestral house of martyr Sukhdev Thapar in Naughara Mohalla near Chaura Bazar after two groups had a heated argument over beautification of the area surrounding the house, in presence of MC additional commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal on Wednesday evening.
Dachalwal visited the area after the kin of martyr Thapar and members of Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust raised hue and cry over the slow pace of the beautification project being taken up by the MC contractor.
When Dachalwal reached the spot, the building owner of another building in the area opposed the project of laying sewer lines in the area and indulged into a heated argument with the members of trust.
President of the trust and martyr’s kin Ashok Thapar alleged that the owner has encroached upon the government land and he (owner) has been opposing the project as he will have to give up the encroached portion.
After listening to both the parties, Dachalwal ordered the MC staff to mark the boundary of government land in the area and expedite the project to lay sewer lines in the area.
