Police said scammers were sharing suspicious links claiming to offer membership or registration in the satirical online movement to lure unsuspecting users, particularly youngsters drawn to the viral trend.

In a video message, Amrinder Singh, an employee of the cyber cell of Punjab Police, cautioned people against clicking on unknown or unverified links being widely circulated online.

“The CJP has generated significant curiosity, especially among youngsters. Cyber fraudsters are taking advantage of this by circulating phishing links asking users to join the movement,” he said.

He warned that clicking on such links could compromise mobile phones and expose sensitive personal information to cybercriminals.

“The moment someone clicks on these links, scammers may gain access to bank details, passwords, personal data and other sensitive information stored in the phone.
