Police booked a resident of Kaudi village, Khanna, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl. The accused later circulated photographs on social media.
The Sadar police of Khanna lodged an FIR against the accused, identified as Pritpal Singh, following the statement of the victim’s mother.
In her complaint the woman said the accused was an acquaintance who frequented their house. She said her daughter went missing on February 14, and she later found out the accused had abducted her and taken her to Amritsar.
The accused and the victim, however, returned after a few days. The complainant said she found out about the leaked photographs a couple of days ago and questioned her daughter, who then narrated her ordeal. The accused allegedly raped the victim for five days in a hotel room and took the photographs to keep her from going to the police.
Inspector Rajparvinder Kaur, the investigating officer, said a case under sections 366 (kidnapping), 366A (induces a minor girl), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, sections 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and section 67B of Information and Technology act against the accused.
