Police booked a labourer for allegedly molesting his neighbours’ seven-year-old daughter in Haibowal.

Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against the accused and launched a manhunt for his arrest. The accused has been identified a native of Bihar.
The FIR has been lodged following the statement of the victim’s mother. The complainant said her daughter was playing outside their rented accommodation on January 1 only to not return home. She then went looking for her to no avail.
Later the victim’s elder sister told their mother that she had noticed the accused taking the seven-year-old to the roof of a nearby building.
Upon reaching the roof, the complainant added, she found that the accused was molesting her daughter. She raised an alarm, following which he escaped from the spot.
Sharing further details, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Hardev Singh, who is investigating the case, said that an FIR under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against the accused and a hunt is on for his arrest.

The Salem Tabri police lodged an FIR against the accused, identified as Amit Sharma of Tibba road.
The complainant, 30, a resident of Aman Nagar at Jalandhar Bypass, said she works in a Jalandhar-based immigration firm.
On Saturday, she said, while returning home she alighted from the bus at Jalandhar Bypass and ran into the accused, who offered her a lift in his car. The accused took her to an isolated place and molested her. When she resisted, the accused threatened her and later called her husband and told him that he has an affair with his wife.
The victim narrated the ordeal to her husband upon reaching home and filed a complaint against the accused,
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Harmesh Lal, who is investigating the case, said that an FIR under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been lodged against the accused. A hunt is on for his arrest.
