The incident took place around 11 am at the project office of builder Amit Dua, associated with the Rosario group. CCTV footage showed two men arriving at the project gate on a motorcycle. One of them got off the motorcycle and fired three rounds towards the office before getting back on the vehicle. The two men then fled from the spot.

Dua told reporters that he had been receiving threat calls for around a year and that the callers had demanded 5 crore from him. He said his family members had also received threats through WhatsApp calls.

“I have received multiple threats. They first demanded 5 crore. When we did not pay, there was an attack earlier and now this attack has happened again,” Dua said.

He said two men carried out Friday’s attack and fired three rounds. “They did not say anything. They fired three rounds and left,” he added.

Dua also alleged that a previous attack on him involved a man, whom he identified in a complaint as Simran, a resident of Abohar. He said he had submitted a written complaint naming the person but claimed that no action was taken.

ASP Gazalpreet Singh said police received information about the firing around 11 am and reached the spot after a call was made to the 112 emergency service. “We received information about the firing at the builder’s office. The 112 team immediately reached the spot. We found that two persons had fired at the office. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway,” he said.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the two men and establish the circumstances surrounding the firing. The motive behind the attack will also be examined in the investigation.
