Deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer (DEO) Satpal Sharma on Monday directed officials to dispose of all pending cases under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by October 28.

Of the 1,03,684 notices generated in Panchkula district, 5,643 cases (5.44%) are pending for hearings as of October 12. During a review meeting attended by the additional deputy commissioner and electoral registration officers (EROs) of Kalka and Panchkula, the DC directed the EROs and sub-divisional officers (civil) to expedite hearings, avoid unnecessary delays and ensure strict adherence to timelines.
The DC also appealed to voters who have not submitted their documents to contact their respective booth-level officers at the earliest. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 6.
