South Kashmir’s first-ever literary festival to commences
Known as the abode to ancient temples and sufi saints, the festival will also showcase the intricate designs of Kashmiri carpets and the stories of women artisans
South Kashmir’s first ever “Veshaw Literary Festival” will commence in Kulgam on Monday.
Speaking of the two-day event, Kulgam deputy commissioner Bilal Mohiuddin said, “This joint initiative of the district administration and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts will start at Kulgam’s mini- secretariat”.
“The event is primarily aimed at promoting the UT’s culture, art, heritage and literature among the youth. We have different events lined up, and literary persons and artists from Jammu and Kashmir along with other neighbouring states will participate in it,” he added.
“Till now, we have achieved great success in the areas of development and tourism.
Sharing a tweet, IAS officer Shah Faesal encouraged the people to attend the festival.

UT lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha will also participate in the event. With developmental changes in Kulgam in the past two years, the region was emerging as a new tourist destination and literary hub.
