Two minor brothers drowned in a stream (Khud) flowing near their Devamanal village, in Nohradhar Tehsil of Himachal’s Sirmaur district, police officials said on Thursday.
According to police, Aryan, 8, and his elder brother Abhinav, 9, had gone into the forest to graze cattle with their father. While venturing deeper into the forest to search for mules, the children accidentally fell into the adjacent stream and drowned.
By the time their father returned to the scene, it was already too late. With the assistance of local residents, both children were pulled out of the stream, but they had passed away, police said.
Upon receiving the information, a police team from the Sangrah subdivision immediately rushed to the spot. They took custody of the bodies and sent them to Rajgarh Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
District administration has appealed to the public to exercise extreme caution near rivers, streams, and ravines during the rains.
