Priyanka Gurav, 24, a resident of Worli, had gone missing on April 5. She had got married recently.

Priyanka’s family identified the body from her Ganesh tattoo. They saw her photo in a newspaper and approached the police.

“The family said the woman had gone missing after he left home for a job interview. Her husband with whom she had a love marriage, registered a missing person’s case with the Worli police,” said a police officer from Rabale MIDC police station.

Tushar Doshi, deputy commissioner of police (crime) said, “The body was found on Saturday in the MIDC area and one of its legs was also severed. It appeared to be a murder and a case was registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The head and the leg are yet to be traced.”

“Even as the victim’s family members claimed to have identified the body, we will conduct DNA tests to confirm that,” he said.
