Two killed in separate road accidents in Gurugram

Two fatal road accidents in Gurugram: a 26-year-old man and a 53-year-old security guard were killed, with police investigating negligent driving.

Gurugram: A 26-year-old man and a 53-year-old security guard were killed in two separate road accidents in Gurugram, police said on Thursday.

Police identified the 26-year-old as Sonu, a resident of Ajabpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. Sonu, who worked at a private firm in Manesar, was waiting for a transport at KMP Panchgaon Chowk to return home when an unidentified vehicle hit him around 11pm on Tuesday, police said.

Locals and passersby rushed him to a private hospital in Rampura, where doctors declared him dead. The body was shifted to the Gurugram mortuary in Sector 14.

According to the complaint filed by Sonu’s brother Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday, the vehicle was being driven recklessly.

A case was registered at Bilaspur police station under Sections 281 (negligent driving), 125 (negligence that endangers human life or personal safety), and 106 (causing death/culpable homicide by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and efforts are underway to trace the driver, police said.

In the other incident, 53-year-old Ram Shankar was killed after his bicycle was hit by a Wagon-R on the Gurugram-Faridabad Road near Gwal Pahari at around 2pm on Wednesday. Shankar, who worked as a security guard and lived in Baliavas, was returning from Gwal Pahari when the car allegedly struck him from behind, police said.

In his complaint, Shankar’s son Aneesh Kumar alleged that the WagonR was being driven rashly by Naveen, a resident of Nilothi in Delhi. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 281 (negligent driving) and 106 (causing death/culpable homicide by negligence) of the BNS at DLF Phase-1 police station.

The body was preserved in the hospital mortuary and later handed over to the family.
