The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) has decided to modernise and upgrade its power infrastructure in the state capital. According to the officials, a business plan for upgrading the infrastructure has been prepared.
Recently, the minister of energy AK Sharma directed the officials to make a plan to upgrade the power infrastructure in the city so that power cuts can be minimised.
The minister made several visits to the substations after numerous complaints of power cuts and advised officials to come up with a plan to revamp the power infrastructure in the state capital.
According to a highly placed official, who did not wish to be named, the proposed upgrade will see the placement of 51 new transformers in the Cis-Gomti and Trans-Gomti areas. The capacity of 83 overloaded transformers would be increased and LESA will replace old wires with Aerial Bundled Conductors (ABC) at 98 places in the city to improve the power supply.
A LESA official said, “During summers, the power consumption increases in areas like Indiranagar, Alambagh, Gomti Nagar, Chinhut, Rajajipuram, Chowk, Vrindavan, Rahimnagar, Mahanagar, Faizullaganj, Daliganj, Aminabad, Residency and university. Thus, these areas face regular power cuts due to poor infrastructure. With small improvements, LESA can improve the power supply in these areas. We have identified the areas and will soon start to upgrade the power infrastructure.”
