Several MBBS doctors posted at community and primary health centres (CHCs and PHCs), protesting for a “one bond, one salary” policy, sustained injuries during a scuffle with police in Hazratganj on Thursday.

According to the protesting doctors, two male doctors were taken to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) for treatment, while a female doctor injured her finger. Several others suffered bruises on their arms and legs.
The confrontation followed a heated exchange as the doctors sought permission to hold a peaceful demonstration. Despite appeals from both sides, the protesters refused to withdraw, leading to a physical altercation.
The doctors alleged that police forcibly bundled them into buses and took them to the Police Lines. They claimed that a differently abled doctor was also injured during the incident.
The protesters further alleged that they were kept at the Police Lines without food and drinking water. The doctors have been demanding equal pay under the “one bond, one salary” policy.
