Spl camps to train street vendors in digital transactions

In the month-long campaign, the street vendors would be imparted training to keep their account safe from cheats. The department will ensure that each and every street vendor across the state attends the camp.

The urban development department has decided to organise special camps for street vendors and train them in digital transactions. Also, the department is trying to rope in players like Swiggy, Zomato for delivery of food items prepared by these vendors.

This is being done to increase income of street vendors in the state.

In the month-long campaign, the street vendors would be imparted training to keep their account safe from cheats. The department will ensure that each and every street vendor across the state attends the camp.

Under the Pradhanmantri Swanidhi Yojana these camps would also disburse loan of ₹20,000 to street vendors. The urban development department would launch a special campaign from March 14 to April 30. The additional chief secretary urban development department Rajnish Dubey has directed the officials to ensure the success of this campaign.

This time the onus of implementation of this scheme has been entrusted to the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA).

“All the street vendors applying for loan would be given training of operating QR code, operating various digital payment systems. The officials have been directed to give preference to those vendors who have paid the earlier loan given by the government. The officials have also given the work of selecting those vendors who have not benefited out of Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana,” said SUDA official.
