UP’s 36 more students return from Manipur

Uttar Pradesh's state government has brought back 98 of the 136 students from Manipur due to ongoing unrest, with a target of returning the remaining 38 by Thursday. All students are being taken care of, with food and transportation provided.

Another batch of 36 students is being brought back by the state government from strife-torn Manipur on Wednesday. All these students are being brought to Delhi by different routes and the process of their arrival will continue till late into the night.

Earlier, on Tuesday too, the state government had brought back 62 students. Till now, the government has evacuated 98 students of U.P. and a target has been set to bring back the remaining 38 students by Thursday.

These students were pursuing education in different institutions in Manipur, and due to the situation prevailing there, the government decided to evacuate them.

Volvo buses and cars transporting students home

Students who have reached Delhi are being safely sent home by the state government in Volvo buses and cars. Prabhu Narain Singh, relief commissioner, said that all the students coming from Manipur are being taken care of.

First, they are taken from the airport to the RC office and then to U.P. Bhawan, where arrangements have been made for their food, drink, and sleep, in addition to transportation to send them home.

Meanwhile, the state government has set up a 24x7 helpline, 1070. If information about any additional student present is received, every effort will be made to bring them back too. He said that the government of Manipur had provided complete assistance in the evacuation of U.P. students. A bus service to transport U.P. students to the airport has been made available. As a result, no student has been a victim of violence.
